In third year, we all of course had to do Wing Duty Cadet which included sleeping overnight in the Duty Room and keeping all the Pass cards from the various Squadron Orderly Rooms for the First Year Cadets who had not yet returned from downtown.  I was fortunate enough to have a fairly quiet and uneventful evening, and with only one unclaimed Pass card still on the counter.  That meant I would have to give whoever that was some Drill Squads, but also it meant I could turn in early, so a little after midnight I was just about ready to get in to the bed when I heard a somewhat timid knock on the door.  It was a First Year cadet standing at attention, all 5 feet of him.  He mustered up some courage and hesitantly said “Hi, my name is Rob Morrow and I am here to pick up my Pass card.”  I couldn’t help but let out a laugh. “Nice try, but you are little too short to be Rob … who plays with me on the hockey team!! Tell him to come see me first thing in the morning”.   So of course Rob, all 6 foot 4 inches of him, shows up at 0600 hrs and loudly halts and comes to attention in the hallway outside the open door. When I look up to see who that might be, I see Rob who suddenly has this huge look of relief on his face but also a very sheepish grin .  I shook my head and gave him back his Pass card and said “Wow, it’s you’re lucky day – I am not even going to ask!” He grabbed the card, did a hasty about turn and then got the heck out there!
